The daily lives of the folk here are essentially dependent on the backwaters – right from earning their daily bread to cooking and bathing. The best way to experience the convoluted network of canals and backwaters of the area is a cruise on a houseboat. Get a point blank experience of the unique water-based lifestyle fostered by the rural folk of Kerala. Bring out the shutterbug in you as click-worthy moments unfold before your eyes as you glide through these backwaters.
Day 1:
On arrival, you will be warmly received by our representative and escorted to the Alleppey Finishing Point Jetty for check-in at 1200 hours. Gear up for an exciting full day cruise along the backwaters of Alleppey. Your itinerary for the day covers the labyrinthine waterways along the Azhikkal Canal – Kuppuppuram – Pallathuruthy – Kainakary Church Canal – Venattukadu Canal – Cherukayal – C-Block – Marthandam – R-Block stretch of Vembanad Lake. The route brims with the rustic charms of a typical Kerala countryside; views of vast expanses of paddy fields, coconut groves and lush greenery will appease your eyes. Add a deserving finale to the day by relishing the authentic Kerala delicacies prepared on board. The drop-anchor will be at the E-Block Tharishu stretch of the backwaters.
Day 2:
Today’s itinerary covers the placid stretches of Rajapuram Kayal – Mangalam – Liziu – Kavalam – Puthenthodu – Pulinkunnu. En route you will disembark for an up-close interaction with the local populace. You will be taken to visit the main tourist interests in the area including the Pulinkunnu Church, local market, Moncompu Temple and Moonnattumugham. Three meals prepared in the authentic Kerala style will be served on board. After a delicious supper onboard retire for a Bonne Nuit.
Day 3:
The day will be spent exploring Champakulam and the nearby local attractions. You will visit Champakulam Church, Champakulam Chundan, Karumady Kuttan, Thottappally, local coir manufacturing unit, and the Kayamkulam stretch of the Vembanadu Lake. Three full course meals in the typical Kerala style will be served on-board. Overnight stay on-board the houseboat.
Day 4:
Enjoy a refreshing breakfast as you glide through the Kayamkulam and Vallikkavu stretch of the Vembanadu Backwaters. Check-out at 10.00 hrs at the Alumkadavu for your onward journey.
