The Akkara House is a large Syrian Christian private residence located at Chungom, around 4 km from Kottayam town. It is placed on a few acres on the river-bend of the Meenachil River. The house features beautiful open courtyards, rectangular verandah and terracotta floors.

A comfortable stay is ensured in its three spacious guestrooms. Traditional cuisine is served here. Apart from these, the guest house arranges backwater cruise, boat ride and sightseeing tours.

It flaunts 2 AC bedrooms and 1 Non-AC room neatly done up with all modern amenities. The rooms are decked up in a traditional style with rich terracotta floors, rectangular veranda and one large open courtyard with steps leading to the river. Akkara takes special care that the guests enjoy a relaxed stay and the host Mrs Shanta Kurian keeps an eye on each and every need of the guests. For rejuvenation at Akkara, guests can indulge themselves in traditional ayurveda massages. It also offers a tempting treat to your taste buds with a variety of Syrian Christian delicacies and many other typical Kerala cuisines.
