This is the first kalari based ayurvedic treatment centre in Kerala.They continue the tradition of the masters with diligence and offer on request traditional Kalaripayattu is done by the martial artistes of Athreya Kalari Sangham.

An in-house Kalaripayattu School is present in the resort. This is a real treat for guests who have the opportunity to learn short and long term courses which teach this traditional form of martial arts, Kalaripayattu. This art is taught in very own 'Kalari Sala' to discipline and protect the body to maintain strength. The facilities here are very special especially the floor used for performance, which is 40 kizh adi, (40 foot) and very spacious. The weapons used are very specific to each stage of the art. It takes 12 years to master this art, and previously was taught to only a select few.

These courses will teach the use and essential points of kalari,how to defend oneself in the case of an emergency, learn unity of mind and body and most important to learn discipline. Through learning this art, man's fear can be controlled including many other important qualities.

Many sicknesses can be thwarted and discipline enhanced by Kalari. That is why the ideal age to start learning kalari is during childhood from 12 years old. Children lose their stage-fright and is able to perform for others. Short courses are available for both men and women. This will benefit you to learn certain techniques for defending self against unexpected situations and increasing the mental strength for facing it.This will also give you a brief knowledge about Kalaripayattu and the different styles, weapons and techniques used in it. Short lessons learned from here can be used for daily exercise, which will keep you fit and fine tuned.

At Athreya, you can practice yoga under the strict supervision of qualified doctors. As a part of treatment Yoga-Meditation course will be conducted depending upon the patient’s body conditions. The course of the treatment may vary according to the direction of the doctor.

The resort is built in traditional style in wood which is not only unusual but a form of ancient style which is truly a feast for the eyes.Constructed using wood in the olden style with single stone and wooden pillars along with a 'thulasi thara'.
