The cottages are nice and spacious, perfectly in sync with the nature. You can sample seafood here and you would have plenty to do, if you like to jump into water or bask under the sun. There are regular flights from Cochin to Aggatti island. Transfer from Agatti to Bangaram by boat. Bangaram Island Resort offers you a variety of outdoor pursuits - scuba diving, snorkelling, deep sea fishing, kayaking and so on. A well-equipped and professionally manned Scuba Diving facility is available at the resort. As a diving location, the virgin reefs of Bangaram have been ranked by experienced divers as being among the best anywhere. Recently an ancient shipwreck was discovered. Besides coral, the reef abounds in undersea life, particularly game fish and turtles. Diving sites are off the reefs and are reached by boat. Diving courses and lagoon diving are offered for beginners. Diving is permitted only within safe depths around 30 meters. Visitors can avail of a decompression chamber, except from 15 May to 15 September. For deep sea big game fishing, Bangaram Island Resort is an ideal location. Record size Barracuda, Sailfish, Yellowfin, Travelly and Wahoo have often been landed. Local boats are available here for rent with experienced crew. Serious anglers are advised to bring their own equipment. The Lakshadweep or Laccadives, as they were formerly called, are a string of little known islands, lying 200 or so miles off the Kerala coast. There are 36 main islands in all, forming an archipelago of surpassing beauty. There are coral atolls, endless sands, submerged banks and reefs, covering a magical underwater world. It is commonly believed that the islands were discovered by ship wrecked sailors during the reign of Charam Perumal, a legendary King of Kerala, around 435 AD. Today, the population of Lakshadweep is around 50,000, spread over ten islands. The principal occupation of the people centres around fishing and coconut cultivation.
