  Self Accredited Rating: Not Rated Kappad Beach Resort is located right on the beautiful and serene Kappad Beach, Calicut, Kerala, where Vasco Da Gama landed in 1498. The beach, locally known as Kappakadavu, is studded with sprawling rocks that protrude into the sea and caressed by friendly waves. The temple on the rock is believed to be 800 years old. The sea here is placid and seemingly untouched by history or time. It just takes about 50 minutes (42 kms) drive from Calicut airport and 25 minutes (16 kms) from Calicut Railway station or city center. The resort located right on the beach has 4 separate cottages which houses 16 well-appointed guest rooms with all modern facilities. Each cottage has four rooms; two on the ground floor and two on the first floor. Every room at Kappad is spacious and open, allowing the cool sea breezes to flow. Time spent relaxing in the balcony is always well rewarded by sightings of variety of birds, fishermen folks rushing back to the shore with their days catch or numerous fireflies that come to you at night, or sometimes a distant view of a ship at the horizon. All rooms have balconies, which gives you the perfect opportunity to explore pristine sandy stretches. However the first floor rooms offer a better panoramic view of the beach and the ocean. The ground floor rooms are called sea facing and first floor rooms beach facing. The resort also arranges visits to Beypore where wooden Arabian Dhows or boats are still made. Guests are also given an opportunity to go fishing into the sea on traditional boats. In the evenings, shows on the traditional art forms like Theyyam, Kathakali and Kalaripayattu -- a martial art form typical of Kerala - are staged. Kappad Beach Resort's circular restaurant specializes in the regional cuisine of North Malabar. Eat your fill of fresh seafood.
