  Self Accredited Rating: Not Rated Raheem Residency, a resort located at an undeveloped beach close to Alappuzha, is a 1868 colonial villa which has been lovingly restored in a rich, classical Indian style by its Indo-European owners.Originally built by an Englishman it was the home of the Raheem’s, an eminent Alleppey family, for one hundred years. In the main house there are six air conditioned, spacious bedrooms with high ceiling with traditional Kerala furniture such as a four-poster bed bought in 1930. Bathrooms are en suite and include one which is open to the skies. The large hall has a high teakwood ceiling which had been concealed for generations. The windows have glass shutters inside, wooden shutters outside and fan lights with the original stained glass. The furniture is rich and traditional. The resort has a 4.7 metre pool imported from France. The pool is named the Apple Pool, named after the Velvet Apple tree in the courtyard. Small Conference services are available in the hall which used to be a popular local marriage hall. The restaurant at the resort, Chakara, is in a semi-open space on an upper floor, looking out to the Arabian Sea. You can see the local fishing boats pass as they deposit your dinner a little distance away offering the great traditional and healthy dishes of Kerala - Alleppey Fish Curry, the signature dish; Seer Fish Mollie in a coconut milk sauce; Masala Prawns; Kerala Chicken Curry and for those with Indian spice-fatigue a selection of contemporary European dishes like Chicken in Orange and Mint sauce. What you loveIt is an 1868 colonial property which was passionately restored in a classic, Indian style in 2003 by a small Indo-European private limited company.
