Ayanat House 

Ayanat House is set in a picturesque village of Thykattusserry on the banks of the Kaithappuzha river, a tributary of the great Vembanad lake. Situated away from the hustle-bustle of city life, Ayanat House is the home of Parayil Tharakans one of the oldest Syrian Christian families in Kerala.

Ayanat House features large and airy bedrooms which face the backwaters on the western part of the house. Private verandas for the bedroom makes it possible for guests to spend as much time relaxing privately. The bathrooms attached to the bedrooms offer both cold and warm water options. A well stocked library and reading room provides the perfect ambiance to relax.

Traditionally landlords and farmers, the Parayil Tharakans' love for agriculture and nature is seen on the farmland surrounding the home which boasts of tall waving coconut palms, lush green fruit trees, pepper and vanilla vines, plants of herbal and medicinal value and an inter cropping of delicious banana which is grown using only organic farming methods.

The farm still adopts manual and primitive methods of farming. Guests who want to experience various farming methods firsthand can work hand in hand with the farmers. Small canoes and a private country boat is provided for guests to go out into the backwaters for a cruise at their own leisure. A tour of the backwaters in the house speed boat can also be arranged. The more adventurous can try your hand at climbing the coconut tree during the harvest (every 50 days) or learn the skills of toddy-tapping.
