Dhumavati

DHUMAVATI

Dhumavati is also known as Mahavidya. She is in smoky form but with full of Shakti, the power, the energy. She is careless and ugly figured having no radiance. She is eternal widow.

When the earth was deluged she was the Divine Mother. She blesses her devotees with right hand. She is the symbol of evil forces and black magic.

Dhumavati is one of the ten Mahavidyas. Kali, Tara, Shodashi, Bhuvaneshwari, Bhairavi, Chinnamasta, Matanqi, Kamala and Bagla Mukhi are the nine remaining. Mahavidyas are the manifestations of Divine Mother and treasures of Vidyas (knowledges), especially thantric.
