Information about Ayurveda in KeralaThe word Ayurveda has been originated from Sanskrit which means 'knowledge for prolonging life'. Pitta DoshaIt is the controller of metabolic system of the body. The energy for it is derived from Fire and Water. The functions engineered by Pitta are digestion, nutrition, absorption, metabolism, assimilation and body temperature. In short, Pitta promotes intelligence, knowledge and understanding. If it is imbalanced, Pitta promotes anger and jealousy. KaphaIt is energy derived from Earth and Water which creates body’s structure – bones, muscles and tendons and holds the cells. Kapha also does many functions. It lubricates joints, moisturizes the skin, nurses the immunity and provides water for all body parts and systems. In normal state, Kapha promotes love, patience and forgiveness. In an imbalanced state it promotes hatred and impatience.
