14 Day Kerala Culinary Experience Tour

Day 1– Airport / Kumarakom - You will be picked up from the Cochin International Airport and driven to Kumarakom, a befitting backwater destination. Upon arrival checkinto a traditional homestay. This home stay, which is situated on the banks of famous Vembandu Lake. You will be pleased with the inviting interiors and cordial family. Though it is a home stay, there will be no compromise on the privacy factor.

Day : 2 - Food is a priority at this agrarian household. You will be served elaborate meals at all times in the family dining room. The lady of the house arranges cooking classes for the benefit of the guests. Get an insight into the making of traditional delicacies like appam and stew and the delicious fish mole

Day 3 : Kumarakom / Thekkady - From Kumarakom, we will drive you down to Thekkady, an exotic holiday spot in the hills in Eastern Kerala. Thekkady is famous for the Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary, tea estates, tea gardens, elephant rides and the salubrious cool climate so beloved by colonial administrators escaping the heat of the summer near the coast. Upon your arrival check-in to a Resort and then relax in the cooler hill station airs.

Day 4 : Thekkady - Kerala has plenty of spices to its credit, each of which lend a distinct flavour. There is no surprise that Kerala cooks are very generous with them. At Thekkady, you will gain an insight into spices and their various combinations. Do not forget to attend chef's special cooking class.

Day 5 :  Thekkdy / Houseboat - We will drive you back to Kumarakom, where you can take up a Houseboat Cruise to Alappuzha. A Houseboat cruise is one of the best ways to explore the backwaters. You will be greeted with many quaint features during this relaxing tour.

Day 6 : Houseboat / Cochin / Thalassery : Your journey will wrap up at Alappuzha. We will pick you up from the finishing point and drop you at the Railway Station. You can board a train to Thallissery. You will be picked up from the railway station and taken to a famous home stay

Day 7 : Thalassery - You can spend the day by visiting various kinds of markets in Thalassery. To begin with, you can visit the fish market and the spice market and do a little bit of shopping. Handloom weaving units is another place of tourist interest here. The age old practice of weaving clothes on Shuttle weaves is still followed here. Pay a visit to the beeding rolling units and watch these local cigarettes being made.

Day 8 : Thalassery - It is a rare opportunity to stay with colonial style home and was built by an Englishman. The cooking classes arranged here will give you culinary lessons on the North Kerala delicacies such as Thalassery Biriyani, Mussels and Oysters.

Day 9 : Thalassery / Calicut : We can drive you down to Calicut, a dominant predominantly Muslim city in Northern Kerala. Your stay will be arranged at a Heritage house, which is an ancestral royal home. The ambiance is warm and friendly and you will enjoy your stay here. You can indulge in some Ayurveda massage and get yourself pampered and relaxed.

Day 10 : Calicut - You can spend the day exploring Calicut. Start your day with a visit to Mithai Theruvu (sweetmeat street) which among others, gives you Halwa. You can also visit the Calicut Beach, Kappad Beach and Palayam Market.
