Our luxuruy 14 day tour of Kerala that encompasses the splendours of the Southern Ghats and the misty high hill stations of Thekkady and Munnar as well as the hazy heat of the rice paddies of central Kerala's backwaters with their distinctive houseboats. The tour provides a view of a distinctive Kerala and a series of traditional luxury Kerala hotels and resorts.
Day 1 – TRIVANDRUM AIRPORT / KOVALAM - You will be picked up from the Trivandrum Airport and escorted to Kovalam (13kms, 0.20 hrs), a happening beach dotted with hotels and resorts. You can check into Luxury Beach Resort. A favourite among the the tourists, Kovalam is bustling with people and activities. You can go surfing, take a catamaran ride or chose to take a refreshing swim. If you prefer to stay outside the waters, you can enjoy a bout of beach volley ball or sit idly on the beach and watch the sunset. Walk down the beach and you will find plenty of goodies to shop. Kashmiri woollen wear, chunky jewellery and accessories are the most common.
Day 2 – KOVALAM / KANYAKUMARI / KOVALAM - You can have breakfast from the hotel and drive to Kanyakumari Cape Comirin)(90kms, 2hrs) to visit the Padmanabhapuram palace. At Kanyakumari, you can experience the Sun set and Moon rise over the ocean simultaneously. It is famous for the Vivekanada Rock where the spiritual figure and Hindu missionary Swami Vivekananda meditated. You can return to your hotel room at Kovalam in the evening.
Day 3 – KOVALAM /TRIVANDRUM / KOVALAM - You can spent this day to take a tour around Trivandrum. Trivandrum has something for every kind of tourist. If you want to club it with a pilgrim tour, visit among others, the Shree Padmanabha Swami Temple. Art enthusiasts will be pleased with Napier Museum, Chitralayam Art Gallery and Zoological Gardens. Reptile House Observatory and Kanakakannu Palace are the other attractions in Trivandrum.
Day 4 - KOVALAM / ALLEPPEY / HOUSEBOAT - From Kovalam, we can drive you down to Alappuzha (175kms, 3.5 hrs), a great destination for a backwater holiday. You can take a 2 night luxury houseboat cruise, which is a fabulous way to explore the fascinating beauty of the backwaters.
Day 5 - HOUSEBOAT - A Houseboat Cruise is a lovely opportunity to experience the unique features of Kerala. Your cruise will begin with an elaborate lunch spread, which gives you a real taste of Kerala.The backwaters which is rich in marine life offers you a chance to try your hands at fishing. And if your lucky enough to get a catch, you can get it cooked by the chef.
Day 6 - HOUSEBOAT / KUMARAKOM - Your cruise will end at Kumarakom, which is a cluster of tiny islands. You will reach Kumarakom in the morning and can head to a Lake Resort, an ideal hideout for a relaxing holiday. When you are in Kumarakom, a lazy holiday will be on top of your agenda. Pamper yourself with the luxuries of the hotel and enjoy a quiet time.
Day 7 - KUMARAKOM - Your second day at Kumarakom can be spend taking leisurely walks around the village. You will get to witness the simple rural life and the simple village folk going about their daily life. You can strike up conversation with the village men who will share some interesting trivia or narrate anecdotes to you .Get an Ayurvedic massage done to soothe your body and senses.
Day 8 - KUMARAKOM/ PERIYAR - You can take a road trip to Periyar (135 kms, 3.5 hrs) after breakfast. You will reach Periyar by noon and can check into Hill Resort. After lunch, you can take a safari to a nearby Coffee Plantations.
