The cruise will start at 12 noon and our representative will receive you onboard. You will be served a typical Kerala lunch dominated by fish and seafood delicacies with many popular dishes including clam fry and mashed tapioca, a hot hit among the locals and tourists alike. The boat cruise is a great option to rummage through the stunning scenery of the waterlocked villages. You can see vast expanses of paddy fields where traditional farming is done underwater and the famous kumarakom bird sanctuary well known for its migratory birds. Some of the other attractions in this circuit include the champakulam church, which dates back to 400 years and the only Buddhist image of Kerala – the Karumadikuttan. The 110 feet long snake boat is another unique sight of Kerala. Traditional fishermen operating the Chinese nets and mussel pickers popping up with bucketful of mussel are some of the other typical sights of these backwaters. You can buy fresh fish from these fishermen as they flip past your boat in small kayaks to get it fried and sauted to suit your tastes.
The short beaks along the villages would allow you to discover the hidden charm of the villages and its market places. You can befriend the naive villagers or indulge in a spell of swimming or angling along with the village lads. The duck farming centres are best spots to buy fresh duck eggs at reasonable prices. You can sample the tangy brew of toddy or try climbing a coconut tree by emulating the toddy tapper, who would be hopping from one coconut tree to another in a flash.
You will be served tea and snacks and dinner onboard and the friendly crew would make sure that you enjoy every moment of your cruise. Sun set is worth capturing in your frames before the boat moves to the lakeside to get anchored for the night. A traditional dinner is served to you onboard after which you can choose to retire or spend some time under the star lit sundeck.
On the last day, the cruise starts quite early with a typical Kerala breakfast. After a couple of hours of cruise, you will start seeing the small islands of Kumarakom and its exceptional flora and fauna. By around 9.30 am you will be dropped at the finishing point to mark the end of a fun filled cruise.
