Bernard Bungalow
Time stands still (and the staff) in this 17th century Bungalow, which is a family run home stay in a dutch heritage building, overlooking the green(ish) parade ground and beyond St Francis Church- the first European church in India. The overall feel of the place is not boutique like Sui House or Casa Maria, but it is cheaper and of the same underlying style as Chiramel Residency. Breakfast is served in continental style and the eponymous owner (at least the husband) is very friendly and full of local information and sometimes even some gossip.
The building of Bernard Bungalow itself is very charming and traditional in style with clean(ish) bedrooms with attached bathrooms with European closets. There are A/c and Non A/c rooms with double and single beds and are bath attached with hot and cold showers. The family suite is ideal for families as it has adjoining bedrooms for parents and children. Some rooms have wooden flooring and ceiling. With A/c and Non A/c rooms well furnished with double and single beds.
