Most visitors to Kerala want to see the backwaters but for some, time is of the essence. This day cruise gives a flavour of the villages and farms in the Kuttanad but enables you to get back to your hotel or next destination at the end of the day.
The cruise can start from either Kumarakom or Alappuzha and includes a cruise across Vembanad Lake before you motor into the canals and rivers of the backwaters proper. You will moor for a traditional lunch of boat cooked Kerala curries and vegetables before you spend the afternoon taking in the sights and sounds of this traditional Kerala world. Spot the many birds that live beside the water, hear the calls of the toddy tappers or itinerant merchants peddling their wares from the back of small canoes or see the farmers managing the complex process of draining or refilling the verdant green rice paddies.
As the afternoon draws to a close we stop for an early evening dinner before returning you calm and refreshed to the jetty for your onward journey.
