The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is Kerala's only official bird sanctuary and a refuge for the rich bird-life of Kerala. Its location beside the backwater Lake Vembanad means its combines the backwater ecology with a typical forested ecology to provide an ideal habitat for Kerala's birdlife.
In your visit to the bird sanctuary, you will be guided by a local bird expert who will help you see and understand the habits of Kerala's birds and how they are surviving under the pressure of population growth and habitat destruction.
