This quixotic hotel is another excuse for the visitors to visit the heritage spot of Jew Town. Probably the only place to stay in Mattanchery which is beside Fort Cochin and is home to Jew Town and Mattanchery Palace. Casa Maria has just two very distinctive bedrooms which is cool and deeply sexy. The rooms are hidden down a small and insalubrious alleyway but don't let the unprepossessing exterior fool you. This is a charming part of the island and has antique shops and bookshops to enjoy as well as being just a short rickshaw ride from Fort Cochin.It is perfect for Honeymoon couples, a romantic get away and for Singles and Seniors.

An old Jew house was restored beautifully into an elegant French bistro, the first specialty restaurant in Jew Town.The restaurant has royal blue and white walls with `French' portraits painted on them, antique furniture such as chest and chairs, traditional blue and white chasse pottery and motifs ooze with a heady French aura.

What Sholto Thinks: I love the way they have done these rooms and I also love this quiet area with a real french restaurant over the way to enjoy.
