Krishna

KRISHNA

Krishna was born in Dwaraka as the 8th incarnation of Vishnu. He is the centre point of divine joy and love. He loves sacred things and cows.

His mother is Devaki, the sister of demon king Kamsa. Kamsa was very cruel, especially towards gods.

Sage Narada had once predicted that the cruel Kamsa would be killed by one of his nephews. To overcome this predicament Kamsa decided to kill all his nephews, the sons of Devaki. He killed six of them. The 7th ran away to save his life. The 8th was Krishna who got his life spared as he was covertly exchanged for a cowherd’s girl by his mother. He grew up in the cowherd’s family under his foster mother Yashoda.

Love to ladies was a passion for Krishna and he used to play flute to seduce the girls. He thrilled himself as a messenger of peace and love. His much loved vehicle is Radham (chariot).

As predicted by sage Narada, Kamsa was killed by Krishna, his nephew. Following this he took charge of the kingdom.

In Mahabharata epic Krishna has a centre stage. During Mahabharata war his memorable quotes on the need of Bhakti Yoga (devotion to meditation) had an electrifying effect. The hallmark of Bhagwat Geeta is the pious quotes of Krishna.
