Vishnu

Vishnu

Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, the cardinal trinity of Hindu epics, preserve universe, preserve Dharma (ethics and virtue).

Vishnu is mainly seen rested on a coiled serpent, Shesha, and Lakshmi, his consort, massing his feet. He always looks happy, set in peaceful mood. He never sleeps and never tolerates ego. The four handed Vishnu is always seen with four arms in the hands. Shank (conch) is held in one hand, Vajra (magical lethal weapon) in second hand, club in third hand and Padma (lotus) in the fourth hand. A bow and a sword are also part of his weapons.

As a rule of nature or as wish of gods the evils and non-evils are balanced on equal strata in the world. Yet, some time the evils rule over non-evils. At this juncture the gods seek the help of Vishnu. In response Vishnu incarnates someone with adequate overpower to negate the super power of the evils and he or she accomplishes the mission.

The most known incarnations of Vishnu are nine. Some believe that there are more than nine incarnations
