An Apsara ( pl: Apsarases) is a celestial nymph of the cloud and water in Hindu mythology.Apsareses can change their shape at will. They are the wives of the Gandharvas,(male spirits) the servants of the Hindu god Indra.There are 26 Apsareses. Menaka ,Ramba and Tilottamma are the famous apsareses of music and dancing. There are several wall paintings or murals in temples in Kerala depicting Apsarases.
