Care and Caution for Administration
Certain modalities and disciplines have to be followed during administration of lubricant therapy. Avoidance of day time sleep, hard labour and long journey or long walk is necessary. Sexual intercourse is harmful. On the day, day before and day after the intake of the lubricants consume only non-fatty, liquid and warm foods in moderate quantity. The time of the therapy is decided in accordance with the nature of the disorder. Therapy aimed at eliminating the disorders caused due to disturbed doshas should be given when hungry and during the meal time. Duration of the therapy is not equal to all. The people with soft stools need administration three days whereas the people with hard stools need seven days. When the therapy signals enough lubrication an emetic is to be given after a day and purgation by buttermilk, rice cooked in milk, grapes, sugarcane juice, jaggery etc. Purgation works easily on those with soft stools while it works not so easily on those with hard stools.
Even layman can understand whether the therapy administered is correct or wrong. If wrong, anyone or more of the complaints such as abdominal distension, drowsiness, loss of consciousness, fever, Constipation, itching etc take shape.
