As part of localization of the names of cities and towns in all India, the names of some places have changed in Kerala.
In official records and signboards only the new names now appear. This is just like Bombay becoming Mumbai, Calcutta becoming Kolkata, Madras becoming Chennai.

- Sherthalai - Cherthala
- Quilandy - Koilandi
- Changanacherry - Changanassery
- Sultan`s Battery - Sulthanbatheri
