Chowara or Chowra Beach stretches from Manaltheeram/Somatheeram to Poovar Island resort and is a long sandy fisherman's beach that can have strong surf in the monsoon season and after storms.
The beach is a "working" beach which means that it is frequented by locals who live beside it.
