Consequences of Suppression of Natural Urges

Natural urges are part of body functions. The urges are manifold. The consequences of suppression are disastrous. Eating, drinking, breathing, sleeping, sneezing, coughing, vomiting, yawning and passing of urine, stools, semen and wind are the urges. There are mind swaying or mind-born urges such as anger, jealousy, covetousness, anger, fear, sorrow, avarice, pride, impudence etc. These urges gradually disappear with the passage of time.

Few examples of the suppressed urges, outcome; and therapy listed here in order:

Urine: Pain in the bladder region and groins, headache, difficulty in urination. Fomentation, massage, tub-bath, enema is the therapy.The signs are due to apana vata vitiation

Semen: Pain in genitalia and heart region, body ache, urinary objection. Therapy is massage, tub-bath, sexual intercourse, non-lubricant enema etc.

Feces: Griping pain in belly, leg cramps. Fomentation, massage, tub-bath, enemas, suppositories etc is the therapy.

Wind: Retention of stools and urine, abdominal distension, vata related disturbances. Therapy: Fomentation, intake of food and drinks, enemas.

Vomiting: Skin rash, itching, pallor, cellulites, fever and loss of appetite are the symptoms. Emesis after fasting or light diet, purgation, physical activity etc is the therapy.

Sneezing: Neck rigidity, headache, facial weakness, sense organs’ weakness etc is the outcome. Fomentation, massage of head and neck, medicated smoking, nasal application of drugs, vata-relieving diet.

Yawning: Doubling of the body, seizers, tremor. Vata-relieving measures needed.

Hunger: Weakness, debility, dizziness, loss of appetite, poor complexion. Warm, light and oil based diet.

Thirst: Dry-mouth and dry-throat, pain in the heart region, exhaustion. Cold and rich drinks needed.

Tears: Nasal congestion, eye disease, hearing disorders, loss of appetite. Sleep, cheerful company etc is the remedy.

Sleep: Yawning, body ache, drowsiness, heaviness in the eyes. Gentle massage of the body will solve the problem.
