Evacuative Drugs
There are more than 600 evacuative drugs. All of them are formulated using root, leaf, flowers, fruits, barks and latex. They will have divergent tastes such as sweet, sour, bitter, pungent and astringent and divergent forms such as decoction, juice, paste, cold or hot infusing. The form or forms are chosen in accordance with the health of the patient and the intensity of the perturbation of doshas.
Five therapies (Panchakarma) – head evacuation, emesis, purgation, lubricant enema and non-lubricant enema – are employed to correct the perturbed doshas. Each therapy applied using by specific formulations.
