Ganjgarvas
In Hindu mythology, the Gandharvas are a race of demigods in the court of God Indra. They function as messengers between the gods and humans. They are the husbands of the Apsareses.
The Gandharvas had a marked partiality for women. It was believed that Gandharvas would occasionally visit earth and coax young unmarried women to fall in love with them. They would then vanish after making them pregnant and the victims never got over their infatuation.
The Gandharvas were also considered to be spirits of the air, forests, and mountains. They are male, and have been described in different ways. They were known for their musical skills, their power to cast illusions, and their skill with horses.
In modern usage Gandharva is a title bestowed on a male singer who has proved his prowess in the field.
