Vasthu Vidya Gurukulam : At Aranmula in Pathanamthitta district The ancient Indian science of eco-friendly construction and interior design techniques taught and explained here.
Vijana Kalavedi : At Aranmula. Louba Schild’s folk art school. Set in a 100-year old building. Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Bharathanatyam, Percussion and Kalarippayattu taught here.
Aranmula Kannadi : At Aranmula. Metal mirror. Unique. Made of copper,zinc and white lead alloy mix in a secret ratio.
Bakel Forts : At Kasargod. The tall, thick walls of the fort are covered with moss. A Magazine is on the grassy knolls. Steps lead to Observation tower. Underground passages invite curiosity.
Fort St Angelo : At Kannur. Dramatically silhouetted against sea. Massive laterite blocks look menacing. Mattanchery Palace : Kochi. Portuguese built in 1557. It houses rare regalia. coronation robes, palanquins, weaponry etc. Various rooms are filled with excellent murals. Santacruz Basalica,St Francis Church, Princess Street : All in Fort Kochi and Mattanchery. A peep into all these gives heart full surprises.
Cheraman Juma Masjid : At Kodungallur in Thrissur district. The first mosque in India. History sleeps here with evidence. India’s President A P J Abdul Kalam had just recently visited this historical mosque.
Kunchan Smarakam : At Palakkad. The Malayalam poet Thunjath Ezhuthachan was lived here. A Srichakra and few idols worshiped by him, his wooden slippers and some manuscripts displayed here.
Padmanabhapuram Palace : An ancient Kerala architecture structure with over 100 rooms. The entrance hall, four storeyed kings’ quarters, the council chamber and the balcony - all warrant special attention. A unique bed made of 64 medicinal woods, the large earthen urns, brass lamp shaped like a horse and rider, a pooja room with a pillar carved from a single jack fruit tree, are some of the wonders here. 108 rooms are full of pristine items.
Edakal Caves : In Wayanad district. The caves are a mystery to archaeologists. The origins of the engravings are unknown. Some of them are of Mesolithic Age. Fred Fawcett, the then SP of police of Malabar was accidentally discovered the caves during his visit to Ambukuthy range.
Heritage Museum : At Ambalavayal in Wayanad district. It has various items associated with tribal life. Terracotta figurines collected from various parts of Wayanad include among many items on display.
