Karnataka a State better known for its magnificent form of music known as Carnatic Music which is renowned all over the world. The State tells how culture and traditional art is associated with one another. It is one of the four State on Southern India, it is rich in all folds. Ones a renowned Kannad poet described this land as Hail ! the beloved daughter of the Mother India; Hail ! the Motherland Karnataka! Hail ! the land of beautiful mountains and forests, Hail ! thy abode of gifted saints and poets! "
Karnataka, earlier called as Karunadu (elevated land) in the past. Its history and culture takes us way back to the pre-historic times. It tells the tale in which the Ashoka's rock edicts found in the state indicate that major parts of Northern Karnataka were under the Mauryas. Chandragupta Murya, the great Indian emperor abdicated the throne and embraced Jainism at Shravanabelagola. All this made this State rich in cultural and spiritual ethos, as many great dynasties left their mark on the cultural and traditional development of Karnataka. Bangalore its capital Karnataka has 27 major cities, with a population of around 52,850,562. The chief language spoken here is Kannada.
It is also a hub for the production of Incense Sticks which is famous all over the world. All this special features and ethnic quality attracts several tourist to explore this place. The warmth and hospitality of the people here is also a unique feature. The climate and ecology here favourable for tourism and one can visit several tourist spots and get a close picture of the culture and traditions of Karnataka.
The State has beaches and natural sceneries like the Jog Falls, India's tallest single-tiered waterfall, Madikeri a beautiful hill station. The waterfalls of Karnataka and Kudremukh National Park are listed as must see places and among the 1001 natural wonders of the world.
Other than that there is an array of ancient sculptured temples, modern cities, scenic hill ranges, and endless beaches. The art effect of Karnataka can be seen on the temples with charming sculptures and carvings giving a medieval touch to it. Not to forget to mention the royal palace of Mysore and its famous Dussera festival one of a kind in India. All this specialties make Karnataka a worth place to visit.
