[edit] Kollamkode Palace
Kollengode/ Kollamkode palace or - Kalari Kovilakam -lies in Kollengode village,19 km south of Palakkad.
The cgh earth group ( Kerala, India), has taken over the Kollengode palace and renovated it into an exclusive ayurveda resort. The group has also revived and showcased the unique traditions and pageants of the state for the benefit of tourists.
The revival of the ancient culture and customs and the fusion between tourism and tradition has to an extent bridged the gulf between the current reality and the glorious past
A holiday at Kalari Kovilakam means a new experience - one that includes yoga, a balanced diet, and ayurveda.
Kovilakom, as the name suggests was once a palace. It housed the daughters of the royal family of Vengunad.
Kalari is an ancient form of self-defense. The ancient martial art is responsible for part of the name of the treatment centre, Kalari Kovilakom.
The palace was built on a site that contained a ritual space for Kalaripayattu - and it is practised mainly by therapists, who perform massages.
They impart energy while giving treatment, and these Kalari sessions help them regain those energies.
