Maramon Convention

Asia’s largest congregation of Christians. The venue is Maramon at Kozhenchery in Pathanamthitta district. In summer Pampa river becomes more or less dry as if to create the venue for this noble cause.

The Portuguese missionaries started Latinisation of the Syrian churches. The alarmed Christians went into huddles for a solution to the impasse and decided to gather as much Christians as possible and pledge to resist the missionaries attempts. Thus originated convention in 1889 continues till date despite the fact the objective achieved in 1889 itself. The faith full from various countries beeline to the convention, a great event with huge participation. The convention is organised by Mar Thomas Evangelistic Association.
