Nellikulangara Vallanghi Vela

Vela denotes festival. The famous Nenmara-Vellangi Vela is celebrated in the precincts of Nellikulangara Bhagawathy temple. The Vela is on 20th day of Meenam (March-April). Kummatti, Karivela and Adivela folk rituals are a speciality here. Five villages participating on stiff competition basis is a great event. The elephant pageantry, temple orchestras and temple musics from numerous instruments will literally vibrate the surroundings. The finale fireworks, in a spacious harvested rice field fronting the temple, attract many, even from 70-75 km far away.
