[edit] Punnamada
Punnamada is a small town on the shores of the Punnamada lake in Alleppey, Kerala, south India.
Punnamada Lake is part of a much larger lake called the Vembanad Lake.
Punnamada is famous for the Nehru Trophy Snake Boat Race held in these waters annually in August - September.
It is one of the most sought after tourist spots in Alleppey.
The low lying paddy fields of Kuttanad, Kumarakom, Munroe Island, are all neighbouring areas.
Similar to any of the villages bordering the backwaters, it has a very beautiful landscape.
