Sopanam
Sopanam style is the classical mode of singing in Kerala.
Kathakali Songs are sung in the Sopanam style of music which is unique to Kathakali performances.
These are songs that convey the story taken up for a Kathakali performance and are well known for its slow rhythmic pace with subtle variations in pitch.
There will be two vocalists accompanied by small cymbals, chenda and maddalam (drums).
