Stroke

When the blood circulation to any part of the brain is suddenly stopped it is called stroke. Blockade in the blood vessel can be a reason to the stoppage of blood supply to the brain. The stoppage may be due to a blood clot (thrombosis) in the vessel or globule or a tumour outside the vessel which compresses the vessel. It may be due to rupture to the blood vessel which causes leakage from the vessel (haemorrhage). The stroke may result impairment to limb or limbs, facial muscles, speech etc. The stroke can happen due to hypertension, high rate of bad cholesterol, stress, diabetes, drink, smoke etc.

Sudden severe headache, slurring of speech, facial paralysis, weakness to the limb or limbs will follow. Unconsciousness is the resultant of severe cases. These are the main symptoms. If the stroke is due to puncturing of vessel, often it ends in fatality.

Remedies : Hospitalization is the first requirement. When the survival is ensured, ayurveda helps a lot during convalescing. To prevent muscular atrophy gentle massage and gentle exercise are the main treatment possible at home.

Precautions :

a) Avoid fatty and oily foods.

b) Avoid smoke and drink.

c) Consume onions and garlic frequently.
