Sunburns

Sunburn is caused when the body is directly exposed to the sun. As the level of melanin (protective pigment) is lower in fair skinned people, they are vulnerable to this disease.

Itching, redness of the skin and the skin becoming tender are the symptoms. Severe sunburns tend to blisters very often.

Remedies :

a) Administer sponge bath with cold water after remaining in cool and shady atmosphere for few minutes.

b) Apply sandal paste over the affected parts.

c) Boil 100 gm of tiny pieces of sandalwood in 4 cups of water in slow flame till it becomes one cup and consume the same twice a day.

d) If dark marks persist after curing, apply paste made of yoghurt and cucumber in equal proportion.

Precautions :

a) Avoid day time sleeping.

b) Avoid curd and minimize the quantum of salts in the diets.
