The Kerala Ecstacy
Day 1
On Arrival, traditional welcome at Cochin International Airport by Karmakerala team and transfer you to Fort Kochi. In the evening witness the traditional dance form of Kerala Kathakali performance in a Kathakali Theater. Overnight stay at Brunton Boatyard
Day 2
After breakfast, half day sightseeing of Cochin with English Speaking Guide. Visit St.fancies Church, Dutch Palace (Closed on Friday) and Jewish Synagogue (Closed on Friday and Saturday) also get to view the ancient Chinese Fishing Nets. Later get back to Hotel for Lunch
Day 3
After breakfast drive to Cochin railway station for onward journey to calicut by train. This would be the highlight of your holiday in Kerala. Our collegue will be reciving you at Kozhikodu(Calicut) station and transfer you to Thalassery by A/c car, Over night stay at Ayisha Manzil, Thallassery. Ayisha Manzil is a beautiful, old colonial style mansion overlooking the blue Arabian sea. This bungalow was built in 1862 by Murdoch Brown , an Englishman who came to Tellicherry as a trader of the East India company. Murdoch Brown set up a 300 acre Cinnamon gardens largest in Asia, 10 kms away from this house , which still exists and is the only one- of - it's kind in the country. Evening at Beach
Day 4
Visiting near by attractive places. The local Fish & Spice market, Handloom weaving units - where cloth is still woven in the old way on Shuttle weaves and get your clothes custom made by the local tailor.Beedi rolling units - small, local, pungent smelling cigarettes which are hand rolled from dried Tendu leaves. Evening - cooking show with coconut and spices etc and then Dinner
Day 5
After breakfast drive to Hari Vihar. Embodying the best in traditional Kerala architecture, this ancestral home of the Kadathanadu Royal family presents an ambience like no other, by welcoming visitors with an embrace of genuine warmth. At Harivihar, you can enjoy the priceless benefits of Ayurveda – the science of pristine living as prescribed by Mother Nature and perfected by ancient gurus. Day 6
Lets start with some sweet. Visiting Mithai Theruvu (Sweetmeat Street): This street is famous for ‘halwa’ – a local delicacy available in different colours and in various flavors.
Kozhikode Beach: Kozhikode Beach which is close to the city, has an old world charm.The beach provides a grandstand view of the fabulous sunset.The old light house and two ancient piers extending into the sea are reminders of the historical importance of the beach. In the morning dolphins romping in the sea attract many visitors to the beach.The park near the beach is popular with the children and the Marine Aquarium is worth a visit.
CVN Kalari Sangam: Kalaripayattu is the ancient martial art form of Kerala .CVN Kalari Sangam near Nadakavu is one of the oldest kalari training centers in Kozhikode.
Kappad Beach: 16 km from the town. Vasco da Gama landed here. A moss-covered monument silently proclaims the arrival of Gama. The beach is a spectacular picnic spot
Palayam Market: Palayam market is the largest market in Kozhikode district. It has historical and contemporary importance. The vegetable market and the bus station are always crowded. The soldiers of the Samuthiris had once occupied the market. The Mohiadeen Mosque nearby is a multi-storeyed mosque where closed circuit TV is in use. This was the only solution to preach to the congregation in the many storied building. This is the only mosque in Kerala with a CTV facility.
Pazhassi Raja Museum & V K Krishna Menon Art Gallery: Located on East Hill, 6-km from Kozhikode town. The Museum has on display, antique handicrafts, temple models, wall paintings, old coins, megalithic dolmonoid cysts and umbrella stones.
Day 7
Ayurveda therapy at Hari Vihar, Evening temple visit and Hand loom factory visit.
Day 8
After breakfast drive to River Retreat at Cheruthuruthy. The erstwhile summer palace of Maharaja Cochin.
Day 9
Visiting Kalamandalam - A day with Masters
This is a more recent project aimed at hundreds of visitors to spend a few hours at the Kalamandalam campus most beneficially through direct exposure to masters in various art-disciplines.. Named as A Day With the Masters the project in collaboration with Kerala Tourism is an earnest attempt to attract national and international tourists to the inner aesthetics of traditional arts. . Nice it has become a major attraction for the tourists looking for serious entertainments..
A Day With the Masters is a structured visit to Kerala Kalamandalam, consisting of the following elements:
• An audio-visual presentation – Saga of Kalamandalam (10 mins) • A Presentation and visit to the Koothambalam – the temple theatre (15 mins) • A Visit and Exposition of 10-15 Kalaris (teaching classes) – Classical dances – Mohiniyattam, Bharathanatyam and Kuchipudi; Kathakali - Vesham(acting), Make-up, Vocal music, Cholliyattam; Koodiyattam.; Percussion instruments – Chenda, Maddalam, Mizhavu, Thimila and Mridangam; Karnatic classical Music, Thullal – (2 hours 15 mins) • A Presentation on Kerala Mural Paintings and ‘Nrittyolpathi’, the origin of Dance (10 mins) • A visit of the Costume gallery, to see costumes, head-gears, wooden-weapons, masks and jewellery (10 mins) • A glimpse of the old Kalamandalam Campus on the banks of Nila; Portrait-gallery and the tomb of poet laureate Vallathol Narayana Menon, founder of Kalamandalam (15 mins) • Sumptuous Kerala Lunch at ‘The River Retreat’
Day 10
Village walk, temple visit etc.
Day 11
Check out from the hotel and drive to Athirapally falls from a fairly good height of approximately 80 mts (150 feet) and joins the Chalakudy river below. Vazhachal, the other marvelous wonder in thick forests just a drive away from Athirampilly, is also a part of the Chalakudy river stream. The area is surrounded by protected forests and provides a breath taking view. The river originates from the Aanamudi mountain and flows through the Vazhachal Forest Division. Overnight stay at Rainforest – The picturesque windows offers a breathtaking view of the magnificent spectacle of the crashing waterfalls.
Day 12
Today lots of activities are waiting for you. Laze in their infinity pool, fishing in the river, visit the tribal village, trek to the base of the waterfall, find your way though the jungle.
Day 13
After breakfast drive to Cochin international airport (1.5 hrs) to board your flight.
