The Next Stage
Kandam Bacha Coat(The Coat with a Patch) released in 1961 was the full length Malayalam film in colour. Another important film during this period was Bhargavi Nilayam (1964), an adaptation of the novel in the same name by the renowned Malayali author Vaikom Muhammed Basheer. The film was directed by A Vincent.
Iruttinte Athmavu (The Soul of Darkness), directed by P Bhaskaran was another noted film during the 60's. The film was based on the story by M T Vasudevan Nair, one of Malayalam's gifted writers.
