Vizhinjam
Vizhinjam is a small coastal town in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, South India. Once it was the capital of the Ay kings, the first dynasty to rule south Kerala. It is a poor fishing village of thatched cottages and in sharp contrast to Kovalam beach, 2 km away, has been relatively untouched by the onslaught of tourism.
It is just 12 km from the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport and 18 km from the Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station. A rock cut cave temple in Vizhinjam is one of special interest .
Vizhinjam is a natural port, centrally located on the Indian coastline and the International shipping route. Development of the container trans shipment hub port will transform Vizhinjam into a mega trans shipment terminal. The deep waters at the site enhance its suitability to attract container carriers of any capacity.
