Kerala is bordered by Tamil Nadu in the east and it is the neighbouring state of God’s Own Country. The culture of both state are rich and traditional, there is similarity in the way they dress, food they consume and customs. More influence of Tamil can be seen in Palakkad as it is the entrance of Kerala and also closely linked with Tamil Nadu. It is due to the Tamil influence that the classical music has grown in Palakkad, it is therefore marked the area of temple festivals and classical music.
The Dravidian settlers commonly used Tamil as their language, it was the court Language too. It was during the 10th century that, Malayalam started to develop its own distinctive character. The language and writing system though are closely related but are different to each other.
