Perumal
Perumals were rulers from outside Kerala, history suggests that Parasurama invited Perumals who were Kshatriyas. They ruled the sixty-four joint Brahmin families who were planted by Parasurama, each ruler had tenure of twelve years to rule and then new ruler takes throne. The period of Parumals is said to be around the 216 AD to 428 AD, the first Perumal was the Keralan Perumal, but the most famous of these Perumals was the Cheraman Perumal who served two terms of twelve years each. Cheraman Perumal later accepted Islam and went to Mecca.
