Check in at Alleppey Jetty the most exotic backwater sites of Kerala interlocked by a number of canals and bridges, this tiny place is famous for its Nehru Trophy boat race held every year. Cruise along the placid lake and enjoy the panaromic views of the paddy fields, narrow canals and coconut lagoons.
Cruising through this serene backwater will give you a taste of the lifestyle of an average Keralite, also have a glimpse of the fishing communities as you drift along the backwaters.
Day 1
Pick up from Alleppey Jetty at 12.00 hours . The house boat will cruise through a number of canals including Azhikkal Canal, Kuppapuram, Pallathuruthy, Swamy Canal, Meenapally Kayal, Muttael Canal , Kainakary Church Canal , Vatta Kayal, Venattukadu Canal , Aakkathara Canal. Overnight stay will be at Chithira Kayal.
You will have the opputunity to get a glimpse of Champakulam church, Kottaram temple Champakulam Chundan (snake boat) and Nedumudy local markets along the route. Champakulam church, is a historic site with over 200 years old, is a sight that is of tourist interest. (This is one of the seven churches established by St. Thomas in Kerala. The annual feast at this church falls on the 3rd Sunday of October every year. The feast of St. Joseph is celebrated on March 19th). The centuries-old Champakulam boat race is held to mark the beginning of a month of festivities. The cruisers also get to watch the Kottaram temple and the serene village life seen around.
Cruisers will be provided with the scrumptious traditional Kerala lunch soon after boarding the houseboat. Evening tea and snacks will be provided on board followed by the dinner at 8pm. The houseboat will be anchored at a convenient and safe place at 6.30pm and guest can avail the facility of A/C during night.
Day 2
Cruise through Vembanad Lake, the largest lake in Kerala, to reach Kumarakom at 9.30 am. Kumarakom, a small town lies on the shores of the Vembanad lake. It has a number of popular resorts like the Coconut Lagoon and the Taj Garden Retreat.
Meals served will be of typical Kerala cuisine .
Lunch:Rice, vegetables, fish fry/curry, Chicken/Duck, salads, pappad.
Dinner: Rice, chapathy, Daal/ Vegetable curries and chicken.
Breakfast: Puttu/ Dosa/ Appam with Curry-Bread, butter, jam, and eggs to order.
Soft drinks, beer and wine to cost extra.
Hard liquor will not be available on board due to government restrictions.
Evening: Tea / coffee with traditional Kerala snacks like pazhampori or suhiyan.
