The serving of Alcohol aboard Houseboats

Popping the cork
Popping a bottle to celebrate christmas aboard the houseboat

The Kerala State Government has stringent licensing requirements for the sale of alcohol. This is both a social strategy to ameliorate the condition of alcoholism in the local community and an opportunity to make money through duty and tax.

These conditions apply on our Kerala houseboats to the extent that boats do not have a bar or stock alcohol although many buy in local beer to serve to adults.

We can make arrangements for beer to be available to you on the boat and for foreign visitors we can recommend barcadi and coconut water straight from the coconut through a straw which is a nice pick me up. Bring your own and enjoy - there is no law against that.
