Most boats depart from the crowded main jetty at Alappuzha which makes the rush hour look like calm as a pool when hundreds of houseboats try to replenish their supplies all at once. Our own boats depart from the quieter and calmer small canal jetty in Kumarakom which gives access to the main Vembanadu immediately and is very handy for the hotels on Kumarakom. Some boats depart from Kollam and some other points as well.
