One Bedroom Houseboats
The typical single cabined Kerala riceboat is smaller than the typical kettavallam whic enables it to enter the smaller canals to the south end of the backwaters. The overall configuration is the same with the day cabin at the bows, cabin midships and the crew cabin and galley at the rear.
The single cabined boats are closest in size to the traditional rice boat and although most boats are new, the closely follow the overall design of the original barges that carried rice from the Kuttenad to the coast.
