Kanyakumari

Kanyakumari or the former Cape Commorin is on southern most tip of the Indian subcontinent. It was formerly a part of the erstwhile Travancore kingdom: modern Kerala. When the states were reorganized on a linguistic basis it became a part of the state of Tamil Nadu.

KanyaKumari is the point at which the confluence of three large bodies of water occurs: The Indian Ocean, The Arabian Sea,and the Bay of Bengal.

It is also the only point on the subcontinent from where the sunset and sunrise can be observed.

The Vivekananda Memorial built on a rock in the sea attracts many visitors.

The ancient Devi Temple in Kanyakumari draws many devotees to the town.
