Chala Peera (Sardine)

Ingredients

  • Chala Fish (sardine)- 6
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Chilly Powder - 1 tsp
  • Green Chilly - 3 no.
  • Ginger - 1 medium piece
  • Small Onion - 5 no.
  • Jeera (Cumin) - few
  • Curry leaves - 6 - 7
  • Garlic - 4 no.
  • Pepper Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Oil - 4 tsp
  • Cambodge - 3 no.
  • Salt - to taste

Directions

  1. Take a meen chatty ( clay pot) take water, add fish (Clean & cut in to small pieces), turmeric powder, chilly powder, pepper powder cambodge, curry leaves and crushed green chilly, ginger, garlic (1/2 of the garlic), add salt and boil it till it reduces to thick gravy.

  2. Crush grated coconut, jeera, and rest of the garlic and add to the fish in the clay pot on law fire.

  3. For seasoning, take a fry pan , heat oil and fry mustard, curry leaves, and crushed small onion in it till brown and add it over the top of the fish curry.

    Chala peera curry is ready.
