Brunton Boatyard Reviews
All of the rooms look out over the harbour
This imposing hotel faithfully reproduces 16th- and 17th-century Dutch and Portuguese architecture in it’s grand complex. All of the rooms look out over the harbour, and have bathtub and balconies with a refreshing sea breeze that beats AC any day- Lonely Planet
A Historical and Luxurious Boutique Hotel
Brunton Boatyard Hotel overlooks Fort Kochi, a romantic symbol of the colonial era when Kochi was the hub of the spice trade in India. Housed in a former boat manufacturing warehouse in the historic center, the Indo-Portuguese architecture is incredible. Four-poster beds and antique furniture equip the elegant rooms in harmony with the maritime theme and the view from the balconies. Almost all of the rooms and the bathrooms overlook the Arabian Sea. Imagine taking a bath while watching the dolphins play with the boats in the estuary -Tempting places
Preserving the Social and Cultural Values
But in fact this museum-like hotel was built less than a decade ago by Kerala tradesmen with Kerala materials on the site of a long-gone boatworks. Now it offers a gracious oasis of quiet around an interior courtyard dominated by a magnificent South Indian raintree. Every room and suite affords views to the busy harbor, at the mouth of the Arabian Sea -Green Traveler Guides
A Hint of Old Spice
The bed is high and old-fashioned with a striped hand-loomed quilt and on the red-tiled bathroom floor stands a washbasin the size of a laundry tub. There are timber and rattan chairs, a tall armory and a small writing desk; it's not a glamorous room but it doesn't need to be. The real attractions here are the harbour side location and maritime views- The Australian
Diners are treated to Pretty Sea Views
The History Café gets praise for its creative menu, with dishes representing Kochi's culturally diverse past—there's an inventive array of Arabic, Syrian and Portuguese-inspired dishes. The restaurant is located at the Brunton Boatyard, where diners are treated to pretty sea views. River Road, Fort Cochin- National Geographic
Remains of a Victorian shipyard
A really special place in Fort Cochin is the Brunton Boatyard Hotel. It’s located on the shores of where the backwaters open up to the sea. It was built from the remains of a Victorian shipyard and has only 22 rooms. Involves the local community and places emphasis on sustainable business practices and socially-conscious tourism. What they have done is quite amazing and highly commendable-The Arc Magazine
Menu offers dishes Carefully collected from Cochin families
To understand the history of Kochi and its dishes of Arab, Jewish, Portuguese and British origin made so much tastier by Kerala, there is no better starting point than the Brunton Boatyard hotel’s History restaurant- Outlook Traveller
KarmaKerala Review of The Brunton Boatyard
The original Fort Cochin boutique hotel. Spacious and very tranquil inside. The sea front swimming gives you wonderful views of the ships passing. Grand service too, but maybe a little stately compared to the younger competitors down the road.
