Kadathuruthy village has attained a small town status. The village is eco-friendly and picturesque.

Kadathuruthy is known for a Mahadeva Temple, widely known as Thali Temple. Thousands of pilgrims visit this temple every year. This shrine is stated to have been built by Maharshi Kara. The other two temples built by him are at Ettumanoor and Vaikom. Visit of these three shrines in a single day is considered more auspicious and god-pleasing. Unnineeli Sandesham, is the first Sandesh Kavyam (message in poetry), written by a member of Travancore Royal family.
Thiruvagamkudy Mahadeva Temple at Ayamkudy and the Shiva Temple of Adityapuram are nearby.
