Tamil Nadu a glimpseTamil Nadu a major state of Southern India is situated on the south eastern side of the Indian Peninsula. The state has a long historical background it goes back about 5000 years. It is the birthplace of Dravidian culture in India. The Chera, Chola and Pandya use to rule this Dravidian country from which now the modern Tamil Nadu is formed. The establishment of the East India Company at Madras in 1639 was a crucial chapter in the history of Madras . Formed on 15 August 1947 it got recognised as a State during 1950. Tamil is the language spoken here. It is bounded by Bay of Bengal in the east, in the south by Indian ocean, in the west by Kerala and in the north by Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The state has a population of about 62,405679 spread across its 30 districts, the place has a blend of both art and culture in its glorifying forms. The famous river Cauvery flows across Tamil Nadu cutting it in to two halves. The rivers of the state flow eastward from the western ghats and are entirely rain-fed. The State also has a great tourist aspect with beautiful tourist destinations and exotic beaches hidden beneath its rich cultural diversity. Its few attractions include Mamallapuram, the beach resort, Kanchipuram, the land of 1000 temples, Madurai which is famous for the Meenakshi Temple , Rameswaram , Thiruchirapalli and Thanjavur, form the temple trio. Festivity and fairs are also well known here and festivals celebrated here are a treat to watch and experience. Pongal is the most famous festival and it is celebrated with great enthusiasm. It is the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu. Other than that many other festivals are celebrated here with great fervor. Whereas the charming hill resorts are also a place to look at one should visit Yercaud, Ootacamund and Kodaikanal for the natural beauties. The famous Kanniyakumari at the tip of the Indian peninsula is where the seas meet. All this and many more Tamil Nadu has one or the other for everyone showcasing its glory within its traditional yet with a historical touch. It is also renowned for the spellbinding views of a fantastic sunrise and sunset .
