Well known for the Kerala Kala Mandalam at Cheruthuruthy established by the poet Vallothol Narayana Menon in 1930, to impart training in traditional art forms like Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, and Thullal. Shoranur was once known as Sheffield of India because of the knives manufactured here.
