A 20,000 sq ft park will be inuagurated in Cochin next month by the Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.Open air stage, running tracks, cast iron chairs, green room and chiidren's play area are some of the highlights of the of the park. Constructed under the supervision of GCDA, the park is coming up in the Central Police Headquarters near the High Court.

Temple authorities in Kerala are arriving at innovative ideas to find a majestic replacement for jumbos for temple processions that fall mostly during the scorching summer months of March – May. A temple in Cherthala has shown the way by using an exquisitely ornate Palanquin made in teak at a cost of over two lakh rupees for its temple processions. |

There are no two opinions that smoking is injurious to health and the health concious State of Kerala fully endorsed this fact by banning smoking in public. However, what is intriguing is the gaping loopholes in this law. While there is no prohibition on the sale of cigarettes, the shop keepers are not allowed to sell match box or lighter to the customers! So the smoking chimneys have no other way than to carry a match box always in their pockets or chuck out this deadly addiction out of frustration. Strange indeed are the ways adopted by the administration to curb the smoking habit of its populace.

Calling up random numbers and mouthing obsecnities or sending obscene messages is seen to be a great way of amusement for the callers. There has been many cases where callers settle their personal scores using this means. Cochin Cyber Cell received 88 cases in the past six months. |
